Awesome! Thanks everyone. I thought it would be like that. We're so used to a lot more sharing when camping with bikes.

The dog is almost invisible...she is quiet and will be staked if necessary. She's not even allowed to look at us while we're eating, so stealing/begging won't happen. I'm not at all concerned about her being an issue.

We're well aware of camper rocking issues (2 under 2 ;) ).

Can't wait for the CT christening!!

Lil :)

Just be considerate of any other campers in the vicinity in relation to noise, conversations, the running of generators, music choice etc... and all will be well.   When with groups we generally self cater with maybe one or two shared meals thrown in.... everyone brings their own drinks.

When i have been camping and there are others turn up it's often never been quiet or peaceful. Whenever alcohol is involved with other parties generally 4wd blokes all out for the weekend then there are chainsaws , butane and bean can explosions, loud music and general chaos.
That's what I worry about when camping as I (stookie / husband/father) would generally like to go get them to shut up but it's a bush camp and no real rules being broken.
Other people's etiquette often leave alot to be desired.

What do you do !
Confront them or ignore and have a crap trip ?

I would confront but wife doesn't like that as we have seen it go bad up in qld on a trip

Yep, agree..

Also if you see 5-10 carloads of young blokes already setup and into the sauce, dont setup near them...
Also dont complain when they have the tunes going at 4 in the morning and enjoying themselves.... Find yourself somewhere else to setup :)

Bunch of mates last year setup at a spot near sheepyard, been there 2 days, sunny, music up flat out all day, beers, river etc.... the spot happily all to themselves.

.... then to have a pack of 90yr old farts setup their zimmer frames near them and complain is just wrong. What they didnt have batteries in their hearing aids when they first pulled up?

When camping with friends on weekend trips we've generally allocated a meal for each family to purchase.  This could be a campoven wet dish one night, roast another and there has to be the mandatory breakfast fry up at least once.  Lunches look after yourself.  All BYO drinks.

Our camping friends mostly have kids of the same age so are sympathetic to kids getting up early and a midnight baby feed.  The couple that don't have kids park the camper further away, so they can sleep in a little .... I think they're practicing  ;D

Other camping items ; Our group seems to have a good spread of equipment so where one of our group has a generator, another a BBQ hotplate, another will load the camper up with water so all the kids can go through the sheep dip.  We normally have a pre camping catchup to discuss what's needed fro the trip ... as this is a good excuse for the blokes to have a beer and talk crap.

Cheers

"Thanks for a useful post!!"... because we don't have a thank you button!!  ;D

We generally share some gear and some mealtimes when we camp with others.  Hardest thing to manage is trying to make sure the children don't get 'food envy' when visiting each others camps - a small shared snack for afternoon tea or supper for all the children normally sorts this out though.

We generally do our own breakfast and lunch thing.

An offer of a shared snack for the kids at morning or arvo tea always goes down well.

We always do our own dinner for our own kids and get them into bed and then usually sit down for a communal adults dinner - usually we alternate the cooking.

Very important though - establish what everyone else considers is a reasonable wake up time and KEEP YOUR OWN KIDS QUIET before that time.

Also a good idea is to establish some ground rules - ie are the kids allowed in the other families camper trailer, boundaries for kids that all adults keep an eye on, etc.

We had a real bad trip in the bush as we shared it with the boy scouts . Their group leader turns on the music to let everybody know its wake up time . A gentle way to do it . BUTwhen the sound of David Bowie's China Girl booms through the bush from a colom of speakers that would deafen Woodstock I cracked big time . Went for a drive to discover the scout camp was 5km away from us . Entered their camp to explain to all if the music disturbed me again I would disturb their ability to have children .That solved the problem  >:D

I agree..... also works in reverse though, eh?  Not that I'm 90 but I get really p'd off when, and with a s### load of other space available, we've  pushed out into the bush a bit to ensure a quiet(er) time and some inconsiderates park too b# close and turn on the  generator and TV.  On top of that  they wander over to tell us that they always run the generator until about 10 p.m..... and did we mind (??)
Here endeth my rave!

We regulary camp with a couple of good friends and also the brother in law and family. We all get one main meal each for the weekend and its nice for a couple of nights not having to cook and eating something a little different. Our friends are all tenters so the Tambo is usually the main kitchen.

We tend to camp in out of the way areas or where there are little amenities and it tends to keep the yahoo factor down a little. Just being out there enjoying time away from work and being with family and friends is the main thing for us

Done the camping with others before and if your like me, you get home late Sunday, unpack and then give all your a gear a thorough clean / fix up the following weekend. I have always found it a courtesy to help with the pack up / clean up after a trip, even if it meant the extend invites offered to come over for a couple of hours the following weekend e.g. Saturday morning to help with the last of the camping housekeeping issues.

With who brings what and preparation , sit down with the others and work out a list so everybody knows who is doing what, and what to bring, that way nothing slips through the cracks.

I would make sure things likes allergies, health/ medical issues are discussed with any new people to your camping group incase there is a problem.

Cheers

Much the same as most on here with a slight twist.... when we used to camp with others with kids the same age we would quite often organise the evening meal so that one of us did all the kids and the other would do the adults. the next night it would be swapped around. That way the kids would all be eating the same thing and there'd be no complaint about the others having something better etc. adult wise it also meant we could all sit down together and relax over a meal next to the camp site at the same time.

usually breakfast and lunch was a 'do your own thing'.
