In the process of adding a few electrical extras to the camper today:
- DCDC charger (Kings 25amp)
- shunt and battery monitor
- couple of shut down switches (charging circuit & accessories)
- Upgraded fuse box

Will be wiring in fridge and lights and hopefully all will be working for our Flinders Ranges trip after Easter.

Might be an idea to replace those red inline fuses. They have a strange habit of melting with a intact fuse left.

Wife complained that there was a funny noise coming from the back of the Vw Jetta.
Pulled off the rear wheels, 1 pad was metal to metal, the other 3 had 6 or 7mm left.
Fortunately not much damage to the disk.
Replaced all rear pads with new bending euro pads. Cleaned all the components, re-greased all the slide pins and re assembled. It’s good now.
Next week I will have to do the oil and filters. I will also check the front brakes and rotate the tyres.

In the process of getting the van atm upgraded, the inspection place only found 3 things, chains were damaged and have to be replaced, which I can't do, new springs minimum 2200kg capacity so I got a kit, all new brackets,pins,hanging brackets, 10 leaf off road springs with a capacity of 2500kg's, didn't weigh them but fluck me ,those things are heavyy.
Things get just a bit harder to do whan you get to 77 
Any got 1 side done, just to grease them, wait until Monday to recover and then start on the other side

Mate, you don't have to be 77 to struggle.
At 58, I dread stairs, getting down on the ground and back up.
Doing maintenance on the Zero Turn is painful.
I've been putting of replacing the Intension brake lines in the 80.

1st side all done and greased  2nd side started, spring removed all ready to install new 1 tomorrow.
Learnt a lot from the 1st side,knew where the welds were hidden and cut them off quickly, what took 4 hours the 1st side took about 11/2 
Setting up the jacks and stands and checking everything for safety took longer than removing the spring, I didn't want to make the news.

They are  still flucking heavy

I moved my shed yesterday...

Was only a garden shed but built some time ago when frame was steel and hardwood and the iron cladding was more than 0.2mm thick so it was bloody heavy. Then had to move the 6.5m W x 2.5m H X 2.4m D chook house made from 1 inch galv water pipe 20 metres across the yard to where the garden shed was.

Hard Yakka doing it solo I tell ya. Beer was well deserved last night

Always disconnected the safety latch on nail guns when I was building wardrobes in my trade.  How else could you shoot flies and annoying pricks in a hurry.

I remember many a nail gun fight during my apprenticeship, 50mm T nails at rapid fire from each end of the bench, ha ha

Not on the 80, but the work rodeo(1999), replaced the steering arm, it was flogged out. Second hand out of one of my other rodeo's I have for spares.

Anyway, today the young bloke(Jack) offered to swap out my brake lines to the diffs on the 80.
Thought I should put extended lines in after the lift.
Hmm, for some reason the fitting to the rear diff wouldn't screw on. Checked both lines, same.
So, let's bleed them, and sort that out later.
Drivers rear bleeder nipple strip's the nut head. :O.
Can't bleed it.
80 is sitting on chassis stands, rear wheels off, Jack will take the calliper to work on Monday and remove it, I've git a spare nipple.
Now to figure out why the new extended lines Don't fit up.

Spent the last couple of days finding out that there is still a workbench under the pile of stuff on top of it!

As part of doing so, I was going through the toolbox full of sockets, spanners & so on, both metric & imperial, (with a lot of both Sidchrome & Dowidat) that were mainly my FiL's, but also some that belonged to my g'father, who was a truckie in the 1920s, 30s & during WW2.

Brain in neutral while doing so, & started to wonder where things would have come from way back when.

These days there's a SuperCheap / Autobarn / Repco / Bunnings on every second corner where you can get tools, but where did people go back then?

So, does anybody remember their Dad / Granddad talking about where they used to get tools from?
