Very considerate of them to park there to warn other motorists as to the depth. Someone should give them an award. Maybe one of them Darwin thingos.

Reading about the weather for Victoria this morning on the 9news website.  Thought it may have been a typo.  The link for it now takes you to current storm news with the related text pushed further down the page under the heading "Parts of regional Victoria to be Flooded"

https://www.9news.com.au/national/weather-news-floods-rain-storm-forecast-victoria-tasmania-new-south-wales-updates/6cc10fb8-acec-4581-8d19-74271f00f77e

But what caught my eye "Residents of Rochester, 180km north of Melbourne, ha?ve been told waters could potentially rise to 115m above sea level, affecting hundreds of homes."

I would have thought if the waters have a potential to rise to 115m above sea level, there would be a a few other homes affected.
Cheers

Google says:

What is the elevation / altitude / height above sea level of Rochester?
Rochester varies in altitude / elevation / height above sea level from about 113 m  to 126 m  above sea level.

So those homes  between 113 and 115 m asl are in a bit of strife...

I get that, just a very odd way to write it when any where else they say, expect flood waters to rise by two meters.

I guess that as Rochester is in a defined irrigation area all the channels and watercourses around it are accurately mapped using asl data.  Elsewhere, flood warnings are usually given by river or stream height above minor flood level at a specific data point (Stream gauge) as stream heights arnt that accurately mapped.   ???

I'm glad we are on a bit of a slope, 84.1mm so far today.
Water causing some issues on our block but (touch wood) nothing major.
We are cut off from town (Heathcote) with all the roads in (only 3) cut. The main road in multiple places and the others by the flooding of the McIver Creek.
Still we are far better off than those in the communities along the Campaspe River!

Not good.. still pissin down here :(

The SES has issued an evacuation order for residents of Rochester, sections of Seymour and Carisbrook as floodwaters peak earlier than expected. Dozens of Melbourne suburbs were put on alert on Thursday night as the Maribyrnong River and Merri Creek continued to rise. Across the state, there have been 55 flood rescues and thousands of call for help.

Same thing when we were at Leslie Dam near Warwick.

Says the water is at 473m! But that's the height of the wall above Sea Level - the water's only ~15m deep

I hope the Kevi's OK. I stopped there in '07, for a palate cleansing ale and ended up having to set up camp out the back, for the night!

Flash flood matters here, so no big deal, other than some damage to road surfaces.

I really feel for those in Shep, Murchison, Echuca and Seymour.

And, I admit, to a lesser extent those in Maribynong.

But a bit more so, as it starting to appear that the wall around Flemington "f...ing" racecourse  may have been a contributing factor in their flooding issues and the flog from Vic Turf Club saying we are "entitled" to protect ourselves from possible flooding.

Heavy winds in Harkaway overnight and still now. One tree down over the pizza oven, hopefully no damage. Time to get the saw out and clean up another mess
